With over a decade of experience in healthcare, Mikala Goughenour brings a passion for nursing education and student success to BTC. Her journey in healthcare began at 19 as a Patient Care Associate (Nurse Aide), which sparked her drive to further her education and career.
Mikala earned her LPN from Ozark Technical College, then continued on to Southwest Baptist University for her ASN and Western Governors University for her BSN. She began her nursing career at Mercy Rehab Hospital, where she worked as an LPN before earning her RN. From there, she spent time in outpatient dialysis before transitioning to inpatient wound care, where she served as a charge nurse. Most recently, she was the Clinical Supervisor at Mercy, working closely with nursing students by scheduling clinical rotations, assigning preceptors, and troubleshooting any school-related challenges. She also played a key role in developing the Win from Within program and helped reintroduce Medical Explorers at Mercy, all while serving as a clinical instructor.
Mikala’s passion for mentoring students led her to BTC. Having worked with nursing students from various programs, she was always impressed by BTC students’ preparedness and professionalism. That experience made her eager to join the team and contribute to our college’s culture of excellence!
