- What programs do you offer?
We have a Medical Assistant program (option of an 8 month certificate program or a 3 semester Associate’s degree program). Also a Practical Nursing (LPN) program, Professional Nursing (RN) program, LPN to RN Bridge program, Nurse Assistant (CNA) course, and Medication Technician (CMT) course.
Ask A Question- How do gen-eds work?
We offer the general education classes at our campus, which makes it easier for our students. Unlike other schools, our general education classes are part of our program and can be taken during your program. This allows a student to get in and out faster; however, a lot of our students take the general education classes before their program begins, which lightens the full-time course load. Give Admissions a call to see which option might work best for you.
Ask A Question- What prerequisites do I need for my program?
The Professional Nursing (RN) Bridge program and Professional Nursing (RN) program have prerequisites.
The RN Bridge program is for current licensed LPNs. If you are applying for the Bridge program you will need to complete the 21 credit hours BEFORE the program begins. See RN Bridge page for the list of pre-requisite classes.
The RN program requires 8 credit hours to be completed before the application deadline. See RN page for the list of pre-requisite classes.
All other programs do not have prerequisites.
Ask A Question- Besides the application, what all do I need to do to get into the program?
That depends on the program, so the best answer is to give us a call. In general, we will need copies of a few documents, two satisfactory background screenings, an entrance exam or two completed, and some medical records. Call us for the checklist though!
Ask A Question- Can I still work while going to school?
That depends on you and your situation. Most of our students find it doable to work and go to school, but every person and their schedule is different.
Ask A Question- I have kids. Can I still go to school?
Absolutely! About 98% of our student population has children. It might take a little more work and planning, but they make it work and have different ways that they managed it all.
Ask A Question- Do you assist with job placement for your grads?
Yes! Local healthcare facilities come to talk with our students during their program about job opportunities after graduation. We also notify our students and alumni of job fairs and job openings with facilities in the area.
Ask A Question- Do your programs have additional help if students need it?
Yes! As long as the student is trying and wants to succeed, our instructors will do everything in their power to help students achieve their goals. We offer Success Labs and one-on-one or small group tutoring with instructors, and more if additional help is needed.
Ask A Question- Are your programs accredited?
Yes, we are accredited! Our entire institution is accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES). This includes our Professional Nursing (RN), Practical Nursing (LPN), and Medical Assistant (MA) program.
Ask A Question- Can I fill out the application online?
Not at this time. However, you can print off the official application and fill it out to bring with you to your appointment. Simply click here and print.
Ask A Question- What entrance exams do I need to take?
If you are applying for the Medical Assistant program or general education classes, you will take the Wonderlic exam.
If you are applying for one of the nursing programs, but are taking gen-ed classes before the program begins you will take the Wonderlic exam.
If you are applying for the LPN or RN program, you will take the Wonderlic exam and the TEAS exam.
If you are applying for the LPN to RN Bridge program, you will take the Wonderlic exam and the ATI LPN Comprehensive Predictor that asks nursing-related questions.
If you are applying for the CMT program, you will take the TABE test.
Ask A Question- What is the Wonderlic exam?
The Wonderlic exam is a 95 question timed exam that covers Verbal and Quantitative skills. You have 3 attempts to pass the exam. The $50 application fee will cover your first attempt, but any attempts after that will have a $10 fee. You can find study material here.
If you have applied for one of our programs and have taken the Wonderlic within the past year, you do not have to retake the exam.
Ask A Question- What is the TEAS exam?
The TEAS exam is a 170 question exam covering Math, English, Science, and Reading. You will have about 3.5 hours to complete the exam.
All applicants to the LPN or RN program must pass this exam for acceptance into their program. Calculator is built into the exam, so do not bring your own. You will have 2 attempts at this exam. There is a $70 fee for every attempt of this exam.
Ask A Question- I just missed the start date for the program I am interested in, but I want to get started right away. What do I do?
You can get started with classes immediately! You can take any general education classes the semester(s) before your program begins. This will actually lighten your class load during your program and that usually means more free time, study time, or work time while you’re in school. You will still have to wait to take nursing classes until the next program start date, but you can get started on general education classes right away.
Ask A Question- What is a cohort?
A cohort is the group of students that have been accepted into a program and will start taking the program together. Nursing cohorts only start once per year and have additional admissions requirements. MA cohorts start three times per year. Everyone that starts a new cohort together will progress through the courses together and will take each class in a specific order throughout the duration of the program. If there is time before your cohort starts, you may take any of the general education courses early to get some of them out of the way. You MUST meet with a BTC admissions staff member to get this set up.
Ask A Question- What is the deadline for your application period?
The deadline to apply for the 2021 Professional Nursing (RN) program is April 1, 2021.
All other programs do not have a deadline to apply; however, the sooner you apply and complete the admissions checklist, the better your chances are at receiving a seat.
We fill our programs, excluding the RN program, in the order of applicants who become qualified for the program. During the qualification period, all of the items on the Admissions Checklist must be completed by the applicant, the college, and external agencies. Once the checklist is marked complete, the applicant’s file will be reviewed for qualification into their desired program. If the applicant qualifies, they will be accepted if seats are available, or added to the waitlist if all seats are taken. If the applicant does not qualify, admissions counseling is recommended for next steps.
Ask A Question- How do transfer credits work?
- After starting your application with us, if you have college credits from another school, you may request an official transcript be sent to us from that institution. Once we receive your BTC application and official transcripts from your previous institution, our registrar will evaluate your transcript and we will let you know which classes, if any, are eligible for transfer.Unfortunately, we cannot accept transfer credits for our core nursing classes; only general education classes will be evaluated. For transfer credit eligibility, please see our Student Catalog for a list of requirements.Ask A Question
