Before we begin, we’d like to explain a few things. Any time you see the term “financial aid”, a ton of questions come to mind, right? Well, “financial aid” just means any money used to pay for college that doesn’t come out of your own pocket at that time. There are many types of financial aid – some that you have to pay back, some that you don’t. For more information about specific grants, scholarships, loans, and work study options, click the options below.

Scholarships – Money You Don’t Have To Pay Back

Scholarships are sums of money given to an eligible student to be applied toward the student’s education costs. Students do not repay scholarships, but must meet specific requirements to receive them. Scholarships are awarded based upon various criteria, which usually reflect the values and purposes of the donor or founder of the award.

Grants – Money You Don’t Have To Pay Back

Grants, like scholarships, are sums of money given to an eligible student to be applied toward the student’s education costs. Students do not repay grants, but must meet specific requirements to receive them. Loans – Money You Do Have To Pay Back

Various loans are also available to assist students with educational costs. These loans must be repaid according to specific terms.

Loan Repayment Programs

If you have received student loans for previous education, you might qualify for various loan repayment programs. These programs will pay back all or a percentage of your loans if you meet their criteria.

Other Financial Aid

Other programs and opportunities to help pay for college exist for certain individuals. These include: Federal Work Study, Earn While You Learn, Veterans Assistance, Missouri Job Center, and more.
