Paramedics Are Now Eligible for RN Bridge Program at BTC

Paramedics with a current MO license are now eligible to enroll in the RN Bridge program at Bolivar Technical College. Bolivar Technical College received approval from the Missouri State Board of Nursing to offer this program on December 6, 2022 and can begin accepting students immediately. Previously, the one-year RN Bridge program was only offered to Missouri Licensed Practical Nurses who wanted to add to their education and become a Professional Nurse (RN).

Charlotte Gray, BTC President, stated "We are thrilled to be able to offer this program to a new group of people - a group whose current profession will lend perfectly to the demands and excitement of a role in nursing."

Paramedics who become RNs will be able to assume nursing roles in fast-paced environments such as the Emergency Room and ICU. Or can choose to shift to an entirely new specialty such as Obstetrics, Med-Surg, or Pediatrics.

“While a paramedic and a registered nurse are similar credential levels, there are enough differences that being able to bridge education will make those transitioning from out-of-hospital to in-hospital healthcare will be a great opportunity. This program will pair very well with CMH’s RN-to-paramedic bridge already in place to provide easier reciprocity without either licensure level having to start from scratch to continue to serve the community and provide excellent healthcare in the setting of their choice,” stated Theron Becker, CMH Pre-Hospital Services.

Paramedics can apply now before the next semester starts on January 9th, 2023.
