Every single one of my classmates passed the NCLEX exam, and every single one of us has a job. I just think that shows that they know what they’re doing in their teaching and mentoring and that with hard work and diligence you will get through.

Julie Cole, RN Class of 2017

"Going to nursing school was the best decision I ever made. I really wish I would’ve made it sooner in my life. I graduated at age 45, and I waited quite a long time, but it was the best decision I ever made. It was the most rewarding hard work I’ve ever done."

“I was a little anxious going to school to get a degree because I was an older person and I hadn’t been in school since high school, so when I went to college it was a big step for me, but I couldn’t be happier with my choice. I worried, was I smart enough, could I do this?  There was no guarantee. So I just thought, I can keep questioning myself, or I can just do this.

I was a wreck when I walked into BTC the first time. I am not an overly-confident person, but Nancy, in admissions, gave me the confidence that I could pass the test and get into this program. I was elated when she told me that I had passed the TEAS test and could start the RN program.

Every instructor was so helpful, but it wasn’t always a pat on-the-back. There were times they were tough and pushed me, but when I felt especially challenged I could approach my instructors and have a meeting with them and they were always encouraging and wanted to see me succeed. I just felt like every instructor knew their students, they got to know your family, they knew your situation, they could tell if you were having a good day or a bad day and you don’t get that everywhere.

Everything they said when I started, they held up their end and I just had to put in the work to hold up my end, and I did. I’ve worked hard, but not like that.  I’m just tickled to be where I am at in my life right now and it feels like the world has opened up and I have a second chance at age 45. I have a life long career now and I couldn’t be happier.
