I was looking for a nursing school with an LPN program, but some other schools in the area wanted a lot of prerequisites and gen-eds finished before I could start the program. At BTC I didn’t have to have any of those; I could do it all together as one, which made the program quicker and more convenient for me.

MA Class of 2017 & LPN Class of 2018

"Along with my schooling, I was raising two children with all of their activities, plus being a wife. So as a student, mother, and wife I had to prioritize in order to get the grades I wanted. My kids understood and knew that I had school and that I was bettering their lives. I still got to spend time with my family while I was in the MA program, I just had to put the books away until my kids were in bed."

There were definitely some late nights, but being a full-time mom and full-time student and having a life in general, I think anyone else can do it.

I was looking for a nursing school with an LPN program, but some other schools in the area wanted a lot of prerequisites and gen-eds finished before I could start the program. At BTC I didn’t have to have any of those; I could do it all together as one, which made the program quicker and more convenient for me. BTC’s LPN program didn’t start for another few months, so I went ahead and started the Medical Assistant program to get more nursing experience. This allowed me to get started with school right away because I knew if I didn’t stick to my goal and start now I wouldn’t come back. Plus, the MA program gave me more experience because I learned all about shots and the nursing side, and I got that administrative side of the nursing field.

There were definitely some late nights, but being a full-time mom and full-time student and having a life in general, I think anyone else can do it.

Now that I’ve finished the MA program I am working as a Medical Assistant while also taking classes for the LPN program and so far it is working great. I can take the classes I want and have a steady work schedule because BTC has it all planned out before I even sign up for classes. I know what day, what time, and for how long I will be in classes, and even when the final exam is, so I can plan out the whole semester with work. I have had a great experience so far, I mean I wouldn’t be continuing with the LPN program if I didn’t have a positive experience with the MA program.”
