Fall 2022 semester has a colorful start

Locals to Bolivar are no stranger to the beautiful peacock bird, especially those that frequent Dunnegan Park, Citizens Memorial Hospital, and the campus at Bolivar Technical College (BTC). In the cooler months, our students and staff are often entertained by the resident peacocks who roam onto campus to admire themselves in the large windows of our college. This year, one of the BTC staff members decided to kick off the fall semester and welcome the students and peacocks back to campus in a larger-than-life fashion.

During the first week of classes, Daniel Leith, BTC Admissions representative, wore a peacock mascot costume to welcome around 150 students and faculty back to campus. There were looks of confusion, laughter and even encouraging words shared. Leith handed out “Advice from a Peacock” flyers to students to remind them to, “stand out, be a colorful character, love boldly, bring joy to others, and strut your stuff” this semester.

With the fall semester, we have a new Professional Nursing (RN) cohort starting their four semester program, as well as returning RN students starting their third of four semesters. Practical Nursing (LPN) students are back to complete their final semester before graduating in December, and general education students are completing classes like Anatomy and Physiology and Microbiology. The online campus also welcomed returning RN to BSN Completion students and a new cohort for the 1 year online program.
